Bill is a London-based journalist and actor.

He’s appeared on stage, screen and in several TV dramas and soaps, but he mostly earns his living writing and reporting news, presenting radio programmes and TV documentaries, and reviewing theatre and opera.

His radio work started at the fledgling Pebble Mill Centre, the home of BBC Radio Birmingham, as a music and current affairs presenter. He moved on to Radio City in Liverpool as it went on air in 1974. A contract with Radio Trent in Nottingham followed in 1977 from where he was headhunted to present BBC Radio Nottingham’s breakfast news programme, Morning Report, in 1979.

Bill was then invited to London in 1980 to present for Radio 1’s Newsbeat and became a newsreader for Radio 4. He then joined Independent Radio News with presenting stints at LBC and Jazz FM occupying him well into the 2000s.

Throughout this time he did much documentary work including several series for Channel 4, ITV, Discovery Channel and BBC World. He has also recently been providing theatre and opera reviews for SkyARTS.
